Pride slide no. 2: Book plating

Book plating station

This is the plating station near the catalogers' desks. In the Tupperware containers is wheat paste, which we apply with the brush onto the John Carter Brown Library book plates. The wax paper you see is used to prevent the front of the plate from sticking to the front endpaper as it dries. Just out of the frame, to the right of the stack of books, is a label maker; I print call numbers onto labels and affix them to the flags lying on those clear plastic shelves. The tags themselves are then placed between the back endpaper and the back cover of the books. It's like doing arts and crafts.

Flags and call numbers

Flags for two books. Call numbers are written in pencil on the inside of the back cover.
